★ Al Montoya, Jets. Recorded his fifth NHL shutout with 27 saves.
★★ Jacob Trouba, Jets. Third NHL goal, nearly 22 minutes.
★★★ Dustin Byfuglien, Jets. He gets heat when he’s poor, so a plus-three day has to be worth a star.

SIGN HIM UP:
On Tuesday, the Jets announced yet another signing of a draft prospect. This time it’s 19-year-old centre Ryan Olsen of the Kelowna Rockets, a sixth-round pick of 2012.
The goal-scorer is shooting well again this season. After 32 goals in the WHL season a year ago, he’s got 17 in 35 games so far in 2013-14.
HEY, CELEBRATE:
Jets forward Chris Thorburn, thrust into duty with centre Olli Jokinen and right-winger Devin Setoguchi, celebrated his 500th NHL game on Tuesday by teeing up Trouba for his goal in the second period.
Thorburn, 30, has played all his NHL games for the Thrashers/Jets organization.
POOR PERCENTAGE:
The Sabres were not exactly a picture of tightness on Tuesday. The Jets had four breakaways in the game and scored on none of them against Buffalo goalie Jhonas Enroth. It turned out to be a non-factor, but converting one or some of those in future games will help the team’s stress level.
