үӯ ABOUT THE PENS
The Pens were 29-12-1 heading into Friday night’s home game against the New York Rangers. Pittsburgh will be at home waiting for the Jets, who play Saturday in Boston.
As of late in the week, the Penguins had a whopping eight players on the injured reserve list, including top-line players LW Pascal Dupuis (knee), C Evgeni Malkin (lower body) and D Kris Letang (upper body).
Not unexpectedly, Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby was having an MVP-worthy season so far. He leads the team with 22 goals and 59 points. The NHL’s scoring leader had points in 13 of his 14 previous games.
The Pens had won 10 straight home games heading into their Friday night clash with the Rangers. Pittsburgh was leading the NHL with 17 home wins.
