The Avs are coming off a 2-1 loss to St. Louis on Saturday, a game in which new Blues netminder Ryan Miller improved to 4-0 since being acquired from Buffalo. It was the Blues’ third straight win at Pepsi Center in Denver.

The win pushed St. Louis (43-14-6) five points ahead of third-place Colorado (41-18-5) in the Central Division with a game in hand.

Streaking: Avs forward Matt Duchene extended his point streak to a career-high seven games (3G, 8A) in the loss to the Blues while Ryan O’Reilly extended his point streak to six games (3G, 7A). Meanwhile, Nathan MacKinnon had his point streak end at 13 games (5G 13A), the second-longest stretch by a rookie since 1993-94.

Paul Stastny, who centres a line featuring MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog, sustained a back injury on his first shift in the opening minute of the game and didn’t return. Stastny missed two games earlier this season because of back spasms.
