ABOUT THE PREDS
- Nashville scored twice in the third period Sunday night in a 3-1 win over Vancouver and, at 7-2-2, is tied for the second-best record in the Western Conference.
- Filip Forsberg scored twice and added an assist for the Preds and now leads all NHL rookies in points (3G, 8A). Forsberg, the former Washington Capitals first-round pick in 2012 who was acquired in an absolute steal of a deal that sent Martin Erat and Michael Latta to D.C., is now on the Predators’ new No. 1 line that also features James Neal and Mike Ribiero.
- The Preds are on an extended road trip while the Country Music Association Awards are being held at Bridgestone Arena. Their stop in Winnipeg is the fourth of a six-game trip and they are 2-1 through the first three visits to enemy territory.
- Nashville has earned at least a point in 12 of 15 games against the Thrashers/Jets since 2005-06, going 10-3-2 during that run. That includes a 2-0 victory over Winnipeg at the MTS Centre on Oct. 17.
- Milestone watch: Preds coach Peter Laviolette is four wins away from the 400-win mark, while GM David Poile is 12 wins shy of passing Harry Sinden (1,170) for second on the NHL’s list of all-time wins as general manager.
