ABOUT THE OILERS The Oilers are coming off Saturday’s 5-4 OT win over Philadelphia. C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins delivered the extra-time marker, his second of the game and second gamewinning goal of the season. Tonight’s game is the fourth game of Edmonton’s six-game homestand. This is the third meeting of the season between the Oilers and Jets. The first two were in Winnipeg and both went to overtime. The Jets won 3-2 in December and 5-4 in a shootout in February. Three of Edmonton’s last four games have gone to extra time. LW Taylor Hall returned Saturday night after almost six weeks on the IR with a foot injury. Edmonton is 14-12-13 in one-goal games. That’s 39 one-goal affairs in 72 games this season. The Oilers have struggled this season against their conference rivals. While above .500 against the Eastern Conference, they have a mark of 2-8-7 against Central Division teams and have won just five times all season against anyone from the Western Conference, 5-25-10. Edmonton doesn’t take a lot of penalties, currently ranked fourthbest in the NHL with just more than eight minutes per game. It is fifth-lowest in terms of times shorthanded, 196, as opposed to the Jets, who are the highest at 282.
