Hey there, time traveller!

PENTICTON, B.C. — Winnipegger Brendan O’Donnell encountered disappointment with the Tampa Bay Lightning this summer, but is doing his best to get over it.
Drafted in the sixth round of 2010, the Lightning passed on signing the 23-year-old centre when he was done playing college hockey at North Dakota.
Now O’Donnell is looking for opportunity and the Jets have offered one.
He’s a late addition for the tournament team at the Canucks Young Stars Classic here, but didn’t play in Friday’s opener.
He does have an invite to attend the training camp of the AHL’s Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg.
“It just kind of ended (with Tampa Bay),” he said Friday. “It was ‘all the best with hockey,’ and it just ended. It’s not what you want, but I’m excited to get a new start somewhere else. So I’m just trying to get somewhere and prove myself and try to work your way up.
“Yea, it is (disappointing), but it’s not something you want to dwell on. I think you take it and use it as motivation somewhere else and make the most of it.”
O’Donnell does have a deal to play in Florida in the ECHL if his AHL opportunity doesn’t pan out right away.
Jets wearing three As
The Jets team here will have no captain, but three alternate captains.
Coach Keith McCambridge said Friday he’s awarded the letters to Josh Morrissey, Ryan Olsen and Scott Kosmachuk, all of whom have some experience at the pro level.
McCambridge staying cool
McCambridge is well aware of all the hype over the Jets’ highly touted list of prospects.
But he’s not swept away by the buzz, he said Friday.
“It definitely brings and excitement but you’re also aware that there are 29 other teams that are doing the same thing and are excited about their draft picks,” McCambridge said.
“It’s for us to take the right steps and making sure we’re not pushing them along too quick, and realizing that they’re very young players and this process takes some time. But from Day 1, seeing this transpire and attending this tournament and start to draft our own picks, when you see them year to year it definitely has more impact and you see the improvement.”
