MANCHESTER, England – A quad pull has caused striker Adriana Leon to miss Canada’s soccer friendly against England.
The Canadian women, ranked fifth in the world, play No. 4 England on Friday at Manchester’s Academy Stadium.
A team spokeswoman said while the injury to Leon is minor it will keep her out of the England game. Leon, who plays her club football in England for West Ham, will not be replaced in the Canadian squad.
The 26-year-old from King City, Ont., has scored 14 goals in 55 appearances for Canada.
