Valour FC announced the signing of Canadian defender Yohan Le Bourhis to a contract Friday morning.
Le Bourhis is a 19-year-old from Montreal who began the season with A.S. Blainville of the Premiere Ligue de soccer du Québec. The young defender also spent time with the Montreal Impact Development Academy from 2015 to 2019.
Le Bourhis is no stranger to the Canadian youth program. He represented the country in the 2017 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship Panama and the 2018 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship held in the United States.
Valour was already lacking depth on defence, but they took an even bigger hit when defender Jordan Murrell had an outburst in a road match against HFX Wanderers FC on Monday. The team is still waiting to hear how long Murrell will be suspended, but it will be a minimum of three games due to receiving a red card.
Valour FC faces York9 FC today at 2:30 p.m. at York Lions Stadium.
Taylor Allen is a sports reporter for the Winnipeg Free Press. Taylor was the Vince Leah intern in the Free Press newsroom twice while earning his joint communications degree/diploma at the University of Winnipeg and Red River College Polytechnic.
