RCMP have sent a police dog and drones to assist in the search for a six-year-old boy who went missing from his school in Shamattawa on Wednesday.
Johnson Redhead attended the breakfast program at Kisemattawa Kiskinwahamakewikamik School until 9 a.m. Wednesday.
He did not arrive in class after the program ended and was reported missing to police at about 12:30 p.m., RCMP said.
Mounties said a helicopter will head to the community when weather permits, while more RCMP officers from Thompson are on the way.
RCMP search and rescue, community members, Canadian Rangers and others have been combing the remote community and surrounding area since the boy was reported missing.
“This search has not stopped in intensity from the moment we received the report up to the present,” Sgt. Mark Svaren, Shamattawa RCMP detachment commander, said in a statement Friday.
