REGINA – Police say a woman has died from a suspected drug overdose at a homeless encampment outside Regina City Hall.

Police say officers responded to a call early Wednesday morning, finding paramedics on scene with the woman who died.

Regina Mayor Sandra Masters expressed her condolences to the woman’s family.

The mayor says what is being done to address homelessness isn’t working.

The encampment outside city hall has grown over the past month to 83 tents, as people there say they have no where else to go.

Masters says there have been other suspected overdoses at the encampment.
