LEWISPORTE, N.L. – A man who drove to a police station in Newfoundland to talk about an investigation was arrested for drunk driving shortly after he arrived.
The Mounties in the coastal community of Lewisporte, N.L., say that on Thursday afternoon, the 53-year-old driver entered the local detachment and asked to speak to an officer.
They say the officer spotted signs of alcohol impairment.
The man was arrested after he failed a roadside screening test, and he later provided breath samples that indicated his blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
His vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence was suspended.
