A Toronto man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after two women were found dead in a west-end home last year.

Police say officers responded to a call for a well-being check in the area of Sheldon Avenue and Silvercrest Avenue in Etobicoke on Aug. 23, 2024.

They found an 82-year-old woman and a 60-year-old woman dead inside the home.

Police later identified the victims as Sharon Fraser and Colleen Fraser from Toronto.

They say Joseph Ayala, 34, now faces two counts of second-degree murder.

The suspect, who police previously said is related to the victims, is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Tuesday.
