VANCOUVER – Vancouver police say they have arrested a suspect in a series of stranger attacks in Yaletown last week, where at least four people were stabbed.
A statement from police on Sunday said three stabbing victims were initially located and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the attacks around 7:30 a.m. on Friday.
That statement said four additional assault victims have since come forward, including another person who was stabbed, but noted there could be more victims.
Sgt. Steve Addison says in a statement that a 35-year-old was arrested in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside neighbourhood around 4:20 p.m. on Monday and remains in custody.
Police had earlier released images of the suspect, who was described as a woman in her 20s or 30s, with long, dark hair in a ponytail who was wearing an oversized black leather jacket, black pants and possibly a leopard-print shirt or scarf.
Police say the victims are five men and two women, ranging from 23 to 59 years old.
