NORTH BATTLEFORD – For Mounties in central Saskatchewan, an arrest was just a phone call away.
RCMP say officers were looking for a suspect in a robbery at a business in North Battleford on Thursday.
They say a man threatened someone with a firearm, and demanded their cellphone and wallet.
RCMP say investigators used a GPS service and determined the stolen phone was just outside the business.
They went outside, dialled the stolen phone’s number and heard it ringing before arresting a man in possession of the device.
Mounties say officers then searched a room in the business and found a sawed-off firearm, ammunition and a baton.
RCMP say a 23-year-old from North Battleford faces several charges, including robbery, pointing a firearm and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose.
