DIGBY – Police in Nova Scotia have arrested three people after an alleged robbery, kidnapping and vehicle theft in rural Nova Scotia.
The RCMP said the alleged victim was a 24-year-old man. Police say he was initially sitting in a parked Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 on the night of Aug. 16 with the two women in Plympton, N.S., about 180 kilometres west of Halifax. Police say a man with a gun approached the driver and allegedly forced him into the passenger seat.
The suspects allegedly drove the 24-year-old to an ATM and forced him to withdraw cash before leaving him behind and fleeing in the vehicle.
Police said Monday afternoon that they had arrested the two women, a 32-year-old from Weymouth, N.S., and a 27-year-old from Yarmouth, N.S. They also issued a provincewide warrant and asked the public for help finding the third suspect, a 37-year-old man from Weymouth.
Police said Tuesday afternoon the man had been arrested and thanked the public for its help.
The man is facing charges of uttering death threats, extortion, robbery, kidnapping, motor vehicle theft, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, multiple gun and weapons offences and failing to comply with a release order.
Mounties said both women allegedly played an active role in the robbery and face charges including uttering death threats, kidnapping, extortion, robbery, motor vehicle theft and weapons offences.
The 27-year-old woman was also charged with assault with a weapon.
