LITTLE HARBOUR – Environment Canada says P.E.I. saw its first tornado in almost 20 years touch down yesterday afternoon.
The agency says the F0 level tornado — the smallest on the scale — was seen in Little Harbour, P.E.I., on the eastern end of the Island.
It reached a wind speed of about 115 kilometres per hour.
Environment Canada says it’s the first tornado on the Island since 2007.
Brielle Campbell recorded a video from her home and says the tornado picked up debris and uprooted some small trees, launching them into the air.
Environment Canada says there was also a waterspout in the area yesterday, but those are more common with three on the books so far this year.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 27, 2026.
