Hey there, time traveller!

NDP MP Niki Ashton was expected to win in Churchill and she did — but with a twist.
The incumbent’s stiffest competition wasn’t former northern grand chief Sydney Garrioch running for the Liberals, as expected.
It turned out to be Conservative Wally Daudrich. The outspoken Tory who made inflammatory remarks online about Ashton and U.S. President Barack Obama ran a close second before the final tally was in.

Garrioch appeared to be left in the dust.
Ashton won 48 per cent of the vote in 2008, but Garrioch was seen as a close contender, being well known up north in a riding which has gone Liberal before.
In 2008, Ashton defeated another well-known aboriginal candidate — Liberal incumbent and former North of 60 TV star Tina Keeper.
The riding — which covers the northen two-thirds of the province — is dealing with big issues such as mining jobs, clean water, and native health concerns.
