Another trade with Edmonton

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Edmonton Eskimos clearly have each other on speed dial — the two clubs have again hooked up to complete another trade.

An Edmonton radio station is reporting the Bombers have traded cornerback Willie Amos to the Eskimos in exchange for offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman. The Bombers refuse to confirm the trade as it has not been officially registered by league headquarters, but expect an announcement Monday.

Amos, a former star at Nebraska appeared periodically last year in the Bomber secondary, suiting up for 11 games and showing flashes by registering 52 tackles, a forced fumble and fumble recovery and one interception. But he’s been almost invisible in training camp as he had been battling an injury.

Coleman (6-8, 310), meanwhile, turns 24 this week and joined the Eskimos last September after his release by the Arizona Cardinals and then the New York Jets last August. He spent the rest of last year on the Eskimos’ practice roster where, no doubt, Bomber head coach Mike Kelly — Edmonton’s receiver coach last year — became familiar with his skill set. Coleman can play both right and left tackle and was a three-year starter at Mississippi Valley State.
