Mild-mannered Clark Kent a Superman between the sheets

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I met a quiet, handsome, boring science type on September long weekend at The Forks. I spent every day of the long weekend and the past few weeks with him, as I’m single and easily entertained.

Last weekend, we finally went to bed, where he turned into a surprisingly noisy and dominant lover! He was very talented at what he did, I must say. I’m just having a hard time putting the quiet guy in the daytime together with the wild bushman at night.

Frankly, I had been finding his company tedious and low-key. But once the bedroom door slammed (yes, he actually slams it) he is something else, like it’s a game, though I know for sure, he’s not weird or dangerous. I don’t know what I should do — dive in, or quietly exit?

Dear Shocked: You wouldn’t stop turning the pages on a mystery at this point, would you? Clearly, you’re sufficiently intrigued by this Clark Kent type and his bedroom transformation to find out more. It’s a mystery begging to be solved. Don’t stop now, unless you get a whiff of something odd. And, try to talk to him about his sexuality in the afterglow. Then, do write back. My readers and I have our curiosities aroused.

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: This is quite the city for running into people you don’t want to see, isn’t it? I literally bumped into this witch at the spa, who muscled in and stole my job, by sucking up to the female boss and making herself indispensable.

I admit I have to take quite a few days off for my kids, but this single woman is a ridiculous workaholic — no husband, no life of her own — and saw an opportunity. She started spending endless hours at the office, doing extra work and even some of the boss’s work. Anyway, I got demoted last week. The boss said she couldn’t keep giving me extra days off for my home responsibilities, so the new, easier job would be better for me.

I didn’t get a cut in pay so I haven’t complained — but I lost the job I loved.

So I run into this thieving woman, wrapped in a towel at the spa. She gave me one of her phony winces that pass for a smile and she said, “Hello.” I said nothing, just turned and left. At work this week, she has been an iceberg and only answers necessary questions with one-word replies. Should I go in and talk to the boss? Things are so tense around here, I may have to quit. I just feel like I’m being pushed out. Please help.

Dear Victim: You did get partially pushed out, but you admit you took a lot of days for home responsibilities and it sounds like it was a full-time job. That eroded the boss’s confidence in you, enough for this other woman to use. Refusing to talk to this “thief” at the spa just made things worse. You should have made polite conversation, even though you felt like dunking her under the water.

Small talk between work enemies doesn’t need to take long, but you can’t be overtly rude. “Hello, nice spa, isn’t it? Well, gotta go now,” would have been sufficient and have taken five seconds.

Snubbing can cause a lot of trouble, when an opportunity arises for the snubbed one to get even.

Seriously consider looking for another job, before you lose the one you’ve got.

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I have a feeling somebody is sleeping in my car and partying in it, and it feels creepy. I have found little bits of disgusting evidence. I leave the car totally clean and the doors open so I won’t get the window smashed again like before. What do you suggest?

Dear Not a Hotel: Leave the car clean and the doors and windows locked up. It’s doubtful anyone would smash your window to gain nothing, but if vandals do it again, you can get the window replaced with your insurance right away, often the same day.
