Seniors living in a downtown long-term care home have been without running water since the weekend.
Beacon Hill Lodge, at 190 Fort St., had its municipal water supply shut off on Sunday after a leak from its main water-supply line was discovered.
It’s not known when water will again be available.

Beacon Hill Lodge, at 190 Fort St., had its municipal water supply shut off on Sunday after a leak from its main water-supply line was discovered.
Larry Roberts, communications director for Ontario-based Revera, which owns Beacon Hill, said the leak resulted in flooding in the facility’s crawlspace and elevator pit.
“The residents are safe and comfortable in their rooms, Roberts said Tuesday.
“The home has a supply of potable water for drinking, meal services and sponge baths. Laundry is being done at a nearby Revera home. Heating in the home was not impacted.”
Because toilets cannot flush normally, residents and staff are using gravity.
“They’re pouring water into the toilet to make it flush,” he said.
He said contractors are on site working with city water crews to fix the pipe and find another water source as quickly as they can.
“Revera would like to thank our residents and their family members for their patience and understanding,” Roberts said.
“We would also like to thank our staff for their dedication to the care and comfort of the residents.”
