Hey there, time traveller!

One man’s totally subjective rankings of the eight CFL teams to date this season (last week’s rank in parenthesis):
1. (1) MONTREAL ALOUETTES (10-2): The only question now is whether this crew gets rusty before the East Final.
2. (2) CALGARY STAMPEDERS (7-5): Continue to tease with championship-quality play, but still too sloppy.
3. (4) SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (7-5): Big-time win in enemy territory. What’s not to like?
4. (3) EDMONTON ESKIMOS (6-6): Just too inconsistent week to week.
5. (5) HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (6-6): A 42-8 loss at home to the Als? So much for challenging for first.
6. (6) B.C. LIONS (5-7): Five of their last six vs. West opponents.
7. (8) WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (4-8): A long road still ahead. But the win over the Argos was a start.
8. (7) TORONTO ARGONAUTS (3-9): Get this: now 3-17 since firing Rich Stubler last September. Ouch.
JUICY NUMBER
— 36.9
The average length of Alexis Serna’s field goals this season. We said it before and we’ll repeat it here again: given the conditions Serna kicks in here in Winnipeg he deserves serious all-star consideration. He’s hit 85.7 per cent of his tries — second only to Toronto’s Justin Medlock (87.9) — but the average length of his successful kicks is a full five yards greater than the next-best kicker, Calgary’s Sandro DeAngelis.
FYI
As sharp as they look, the Esks are glad to be done with their retro uniforms at home after going 0-3 in those green and gold duds. "From what I heard, the team that wore them (back in the 1960s) didn’t do well," slotback Kamau Peterson told The Edmonton Sun. "Hopefully, they’ll pick a year next year that had more success."… Lions kicker Sean Whyte was the assistant icemaker at the Peace Arch Curling Club in White Rock, B.C. and would likely be doing the same gig this winter if starter Paul McCallum hadn’t been injured earlier this year.
SAY WHAT?!
"He helped us win that game. And that first field goal he got, from 53 yards, got everybody up on their toes. He is one of the most likable players we’ve got and for a kicker to be embraced by the rest of the team is always a good thing."
— Bombers head coach Mike Kelly on Alexis Serna.
