WINNIPEG–The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed quarterback Alex Brink, the highly-touted former Washington State quarterback who was obtained via trade last week.
Brink is the fifth quarterback on the Bombers’ depth chart, which also includes Buck Pierce, Steven Jyles, Ricky Santos and Adam DiMichele.
“We are excited to add Alex Brink to our roster. He’s a guy that has had a lot of success at the NCAA level and drew interest from the NFL. We think he can come in and compete for a roster spot and look forward to watching him in training camp in June,” said Blue Bombers vice-president of football operations and general manager Joe Mack in a release.
The 6-foot-2, 208 pound Brink was a seventh-round draft pick in the 2008 NFL draft by Houston Texans and spent parts of the 2008 and 2009 season with the team before being released last fall.
Brink, 24, is one of just six players in Pac-10 conference history to pass for over 10,000 yards and 70 touchdowns in a college career
