A second phase of remediation work is underway at WAG-Qaumajuq.
Per an emailed statement from the gallery, the work is being done to stop some air leakage that is causing condensation behind the brickwork at the Inuit art centre.
Following Qaumajuq’s completion in December 2020, the building “began showing post-construction condensation irregularities and moisture buildup in the envelope assembly and exterior brick veneer,” according to a previous media release. The first phase of remedial work to resolve those issues took place over 2022-23, overseen by PCL Construction.
The gallery remains open throughout this project, with entry continuing through the Qaumajuq doors.
