WINNIPEG pop group Ash Koley is hot and an award at the Canadian Radio Music Awards proves it.

The duo’s ubiquitous hit single, Don’t Let Your Feet Touch Ground, was named hot adult contemporary song of the year at the 2011 awards show in Toronto during Canadian Music Week. The group — Ash Koley and Phil Deschambault — performed at the ceremony at the Royal York Hotel.

Other winners from the event included Crash Karma’s Awake in the rock category; Johnny Reid’s Let’s Go Higher in the adult contemporary category; Nickelback took home the fan choice award; Hedley won the chart topper award; Hollerado was named breakthrough artist of the year; and the all star version of K’naan’s Wavin’ Flag by Young Artists for Haiti was named SOCAN song of the year.

At a different awards show as part of CMW, Winnipeg’s Heather Longstaffe was named the winner of the Canadian Radio Star National Songwriting Competition for her ballad Waste of Gas.

Her prize includes $10,000 in cash, recording equipment and studio time. Longstaffe represented Hot 103 in the cross-country radio competition.
