THE Paddlewheel restaurant, a former Winnipeg institution, will return to the Bay downtown for a limited time.
Winnipeg’s flagship Hudson’s Bay store will host a series of lunch-hour pop-ups with local chefs on Thursdays and Fridays from now until Nov. 1.
The eateries will operate under the Paddlewheel name, but the temporary restaurant will be located on the first floor of the department store at 450 Portage Ave.

It will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Mitchell Block, an upscale American-Italian restaurant that specializes in handmade pasta, will be the restaurant-in-residence on Oct. 17 and today, while Kyu Grill will serve Japanese fare on Oct. 24 and 25. The final restaurant to be featured on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 will be announced later.
The original Paddlewheel buffet opened on the sixth floor of the Bay on Oct. 29, 1954, and became a popular lunch spot. It closed in January 2013.
