NEW YORK – Designer Raf Simons is parting ways with Calvin Klein after two years with the fashion company.

Calvin Klein announced in a statement Friday the Belgian designer’s departure as the chief creative officer was amicable. The company said it decided on a new brand direction different from Simons’ creative vision.

Simons revitalized Calvin Klein with his hip European sensibility after being appointed into the position in 2016. He was a mainstay in the industry, scoring multiple awards over the past couple years from the Council of Fashion Designers of America — considered the Oscars of fashion.

Among the many cultural references Simons cited for his work, one of his favourite was cinema, especially period films.

Calvin Klein will not show during New York Fashion Week in February 2019.

Man, 20, faces charges in street-racing incident

Speeding drivers were racing through Elmwood at up to 200 km/h overnight, Winnipeg police say.

Around 2 a.m. July 26, police got reports of a Corvette and other vehicles racing along Disraeli Freeway. Using the Winnipeg Police Service's helicopter, officers monitored the vehicles and recorded speeds, including vehicles crossing the Nairn overpass at up to 200 km/hr.

Officers with the central traffic unit tried to pull over a Jeep and a Corvette at Lagimodiere Boulevard and Regent Avenue. The driver of the Corvette didn't stop and sped past police, eventually stopping in the 100 block of Johnson Avenue where the driver and passenger got out and ran.

The K9 unit tracked the suspects to the 100 block of Poplar Avenue. One of them was taken down by a police dog and received medical attention. Both were taken into custody.

Cierzan has loved seeing other girls grace the ice and play the competitive sport she adores. When the PWHL takeover stopped in Winnipeg in March, she not only got to watch the game but also a practice beforehand where Tabin signed her Victoire hat.
