It didn’t take long for Winnipeg Blue Bomber boss Mike Kelly to find himself a new offensive-line coach.
Kelly announced this afternoon the addition of Charlie Carpenter to his staff — just hours after the departure of Ronnie Vinklarek to the Rice University Owls. And Carpenter’s name should be familiar to Bomber fans, as he worked here previously — alongside Kelly on Cal Murphy’s staff — in 1992 and 1993. He also has extensive CFL experience with the Baltimore Stallions (1995), B.C. Lions (1997-98) Toronto Argonauts (1996, 2006) and Montreal Alouettes (2007).
RIDERS GRAB WINNIPEGGER: The Saskatchewan Roughriders will announce this afternoon they have acquired defensive back Donovan Alexander, a product of the Charleswood Broncos, St. Paul’s Crusaders and the University of North Dakota, from the Montreal Alouettes for what is reportedly a draft pick. Alexander (6-0, 181) dressed for four games for the Als last season.
