WINNIPEG–Mayor Sam Katz’s cabinet has formally withdrawn the $7-million grant the city offered to the Canad Inns hotel chain to build a water park.

City council’s executive policy committee voted this morning to seek a new private partner to build an indoor water park, as Mayor Katz pledged in early May.

The new expression of interest call also requires council approval next week. A minority of councilors would prefer to see the $7 million allocated to other recreation projects.
