Daniel McIntyre Coun. Harvey Smith wants to scuttle the city’s plan to look for a new private partner to build an indoor water park with the help of a $7 million grant.

Smith and Transcona Coun. Russ Wyatt plan to move a motion at city council on Wednesday to redirect the money toward other city aquatic facilities.

The cash, originally slated for rapid transit, was awarded to the Canad Inns hotel chain last year. But Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz cancelled the plan after Canad Inns failed to move forward on a plan to build a water park at Polo Park.
