WINNIPEG -- Winnipeg Blue Bombers punter Mike Renaud met with doctors on Tuesday and it's believed he has a torn ACL and could miss the rest of the season if surgery is required.

WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Blue Bombers punter Mike Renaud met with doctors on Tuesday and it’s believed he has a torn ACL and could miss the rest of the season if surgery is required.

The team and Renaud won’t make a decision on Renaud’s status imediately until swelling in the injured joint on his kicking leg has settled down.

Many kickers have played with a torn ACL but Renaud’s young age, 25, and bright future could prevent the team from putting him in danger of further damage. If surgery is needed, the rehab from such a procedure is a six-month endeavour and the club would like to get him worked on sooner than later so he’s ready for next season.
