Get ready Brandon, the Big Blue are coming to town.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers football club announced Thursday that it will hold one day of training camp on June 11 in Brandon at Vincent Massey High School
The day will include a practice on the field at Vincent Massey from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and following the practice, an autograph session at Neelin High School from 2:20 p.m. – 4 p.m.
“This is an exciting time for both the city of Brandon and the Winnipeg Football Club,” said Blue Bombers president Jim Bell. “We’re looking forward to making the short trip out west where we can connect with the many Bomber fans outside of Winnipeg and ensure that Blue Bomber football reaches out to our entire province.”
The fun will begin June 10 when local media members will participate in the first Rod Hill Media Challenge, hosted by Blue Bombers Hall of Fame legend Rod Hill, when participants will attempt to showcase their skills in football related drills.
Later that evening at Remington’s Seafood and Steakhouse, members of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce will meet with Blue Bombers staff members in a networking opportunity.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for fans of any age to feel included in the world of football and, likewise, for the players to increase awareness of the Bombers throughout the province. Brandon is delighted to be able to host this day of training camp in June,” said Brandon Mayor Shari Decter Hirst in a statement.
