Winnipeg Blue Bombers fans can breathe a little easier — quarterback Buck Pierce is with the team at practice this morning.
The veteran starter, listed day-to-day with what the team is calling a bruised left thigh injury suffered during the first half of last Thursday’s loss to Calgary, took his turn with the three other Bomber quarterbacks at a steamy Canad Inns Stadium Tuesday.
Showing little signs of a leg injury, Pierce appeared to be quite mobile, rolling out after handing the ball off to the running back during the early stages of the workout.
The 29-year-old had to leave the Stamps game due to the injury. He was replaced by backup Joey Elliott, who would later suffer a season-ending knee injury.
With his appearance at practice, Pierce should be ready to go when the club travels to Toronto to take on the Argonauts Saturday afternoon.
This season, Pierce is 42-of-76 for just 465 yards passing, numbers that put the New Mexico State product last among starting quarterbacks in the CFL.
Also on the practice field Tuesday was WR Greg Carr, who missed the last two games with a leg injury.
