PHILADELPHIA, Penn. — Winnipeg Jets winger Evander Kane, speaking to the media for the first time since rumours broke on Wednesday that he’d asked for a trade, shot down the speculation.

“No I have not (asked for a trade). I guess people on social media come up with rumours,” said Kane, referring to the Twitter and blog talk that had him asking for a move.

Kane’s business manager Jeffrey Duppal tweeted to a media member on Wednesday to direct message him on Twitter and he would provide details on the subject. Kane couldn’t shed any light on that exchange.

“I can’t speak for anybody but myself. The story started on some blog. I haven’t even read it. I don’t know what to think. I haven’t asked for a trade and I’m happy where I am and I expect to be here for a long time,” said Kane.

There was also talk on Wednesday that Kane and coach Claude Noel have a bad relationship.

“I have the same relationship with Claude as the rest of the guys in the room do. I’ve been getting better and the last two games have been much better,” said Kane. “Rumours are rumours and unless you hear it from the horse’s mouth it’s not true.”

The Jets take on the Flyers tonight and it’s expected that goalie Ondrej Pavelec will start for Winnipeg.
