Hey there, time traveller!

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers plan to open the 2012 regular season home schedule at Investors Group Field as scheduled, the club announced Monday.
Despite concern the new stadium won’t be ready for the July 26 home opener against the Edmonton Eskimos, the club is moving forward with a plan to unveil the $190-million facility to the public that day. Winnipeg will now play the June 20 preseason game against Hamilton at Canad Inns Stadium.
“As we all know, construction of a major facility is dependent on many different factors,” said Bombers COO Jim Bell said in a release. “We were given a comprehensive construction overview last week, and were advised that the construction team has lost over 60 days due to weather. While we are enjoying mild temperatures, high winds have hampered the very dangerous work associated with the erection of the partial roof canopy. Workplace safety is of foremost importance and we support our construction team’s decisions as to when it’s safe to operate the cranes and when it is not.
“In light of this information, we will play our preseason game on June 20 at Canad Inns Stadium, and plan to open the regular season at Investors Group Field on July 26.”
The Bombers, who open the regular season with four straight road games to buy more building time, warn that the July 26 opening date is dependent on a milestone being met in early May. Another update on the construction of the 33,500-seat facility at the University of Manitoba will be made in the coming months.
The club is currently in the middle of its season ticket allocation program, and will be crediting ticket holders for the shortage of games at the new stadium.
Season ticket packages for the 2012 season are sold on the basis of 10 games (one preseason, nine regular season). Those purchasing tickets for this season will be credited the difference to equal the value of the 2011 preseason game ticket, the club says.
