Bombers sign Steed, cut 10 players from roster

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released 10 more import players on Thursday, as they continue to shape up their roster with training camp inching closer.

Getting the cut on Thursday were receivers Derrick Hector, Lavon Downs and Kashif Montgomery; linebackers C.J. Wilson and Shamari Benton; offensive lineman Jarrid Bryant; defensive backs Keon Lyn, Sam Miller, David van Dyke; and defensive end Justin Oxendine.

Earlier on Thursday, the Bombers announced they had released import DL Greg Hickman and receiver Justin Wilson.

The Bombers also added an import DB on Thursday, signing Ryan Steed for the season. The 5’11”, 185-lb. North Carolinan flirted with the CFL last season, signing with Calgary and spending time on Saskatchewan’s practice roster. The 25-year-old played four seasons at Furman, and was voted an All-American in 2011, his senior year. In 2012 he went undrafted, and bounced around a handful of NFL rosters.
