A young party loyalist has been tapped to complete the Conservative party’s nominations in Manitoba.

The Conservatives have nominated Kyle Mirecki, a young Winnipegger who has held various positions within the Conservative government, to run in Churchill-Keewatinook Aski.

He has worked in the Prime Minister’s Office as an issues manager and as an executive assistant to the deputy chief of staff, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He is currently a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Manitoba.

Mirecki will face off against current New Democrat MP Niki Ashton, Liberal candidate Rebecca Chartrand, and August Hastmann for the Green Party in the Northern Manitoba riding.

Although Hastmann isn’t registered as a nominated candidate with Elections Canada as of Sunday.

In 2011. Ashton won with over 50 per cent of the vote, while the Conservative candidate placed second with 26 per cent of the vote; voter turnout was only 43 per cent.

This inches the Conservatives one step closer to having a full slate of candidates across the country.

The parties have until 2 p.m. local time Monday to nominate a candidate and secure them a spot on the ballot on Oct. 19.

A final list of candidates will be released on Sept. 30 by Elections Canada.
