WINNIPEG Mayor Sam Katz says he won’t endorse any political party during the provincial election campaign, but he will praise specific policies.
On Wednesday, Katz told reporters he liked the crime-fighting plan presented by the Manitoba Progressive Conservatives and a Liberal pledge to expand recreational programming. The mayor did not mention any New Democratic Party policies, but said there is plenty of time during the election to review other promises.
The provincial election will be held Oct. 4. Katz is not a member of any political party but has strong ties to the provincial Tories through current and former members of his staff.
