FOR the second day in a row, the 2015 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival has set a record.

On Friday, the festival registered 9,658 tickets sold, a new festival record for the opening Friday of the festival. It took 21 sold-out shows to get to that number, said executive producer Chuck McEwen.

The 2015 attendance figure surpassed the previous mark, set just last year when 9,341 fringers attended shows on just 12 sellouts.

The festival continues all week and wraps up Sunday night at 32 different venues in and around the Exchange District.
