THE weather wasn’t the only thing that was red-hot in Winnipeg.

Also sizzling were tickets to Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival shows, as the daily attendance once again climbed past 10,000, says executive producer Chuck McEwen.

On Wednesday, 10,273 tickets were sold for 135 performances, yet another record set by the 2015 event. Thirty shows sold out, which is the most sold-out shows in any single day in the fringe’s 28-year history.

The festival continues all weekend and wraps up Sunday night, when the Harry S. Rintoul Award is handed out for the best new Manitoba play at the fringe.
