THE Winnipeg Goldeyes made a major splash on Monday.

The Fish announced infielder Kevin Lachance, who started last season in Winnipeg before he had his contract purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks, has signed a contract to rejoin the independent club.

In 13 games with the Goldeyes, Lachance hit .372 and had a seven-game hitting streak to open the season. After signing with the Diamondbacks, the 25-year-old Clifton, Va., native went on to spend time with four different affiliates through the remainder of the summer. Lachance drove in 16 runs in 33 games in the Diamondbacks’ system. He made it to the Triple-A level, playing two games for the Pacific Coast League’s Reno Aces.

The Goldeyes also signed right-handed pitcher Jordan Kurokawa. The 27-year-old Hawaiian went 2-5 with a 5.12 ERA in 12 starts and four relief appearances last season for the Can-Am League’s Ottawa Champions. Kurokawa was voted an all-star in 2017 with the Frontier League’s Lake Erie Crushers and in 2018 with Ottawa.
