IT was a bronze-medal finish for Team Manitoba at the 2009 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship in Lower Sackville, N.S. on Saturday.
Skip Chris Sobkowicz, third Dennis Thiessen, second Michael Alberg, lead Arlene Ursel, fifth Terry Lindell and coach William Biehl lost to Alberta 7-4 in the semifinal.
Manitoba, which finished the round-robin portion of the tournament with a 7-2 record, had defeated Northern Ontario 6-5 in the three-vs.-four Page playoff game to earn a spot in the semi. B.C. defeated Alberta 6-4 in the final Saturday afternoon to become national champions.
