DIGBY, N.S. — Manitoba’s Kelly Robertson is sitting alone in first at 8-1 in the men’s standings at the Canadian senior curling championships.
Robertson won both his Wednesday games, defeating Quebec’s Robert Maclean 4-2 in a low-scoring affair — a deuce in the fourth was the difference — then opening with a three-spot against Saskatchewan’s Brad Heidt in what turned out to be an 8-6 win in the all-prairie battle. Jeff Thomas of Newfoundland and Labrador sits alone in second at 7-2. Robertson, who has clinched a playoff spot, and Thomas meet in the final round-robin draw tonight.
In women’s play, Ontario’s Joyce Potter, New Brunswick’s Heidi Hanlon and Saskatchewan’s Delores Syrota are tied for first with 7-2 records with three draws remaining.
