Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 07/06/2009 (6260 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.

We’re back after approximately a two-year hiatus from regular blogging to bring you all the breaking news, rumours, useless trivia and other tidbits from Bomberland and the Canadian Football League with our ‘Bomber Insider’.

So let’s get right to it from Day 1 of main training camp with some random thoughts…

-Richie Williams, the former Hamilton Tiger-Cat QB, is not on the field this morning but a source says he should be within the next couple of days…

-Ryan Dinwiddie, released by the Bombers on Saturday, may not be out of work for lomg. Word has it the likable QB received an ‘exploratory call’ from Saskatchewan Roughriders GM Eric Tillman – supposedly at the recommendation of former Bomber OL coach Bob Wylie, who is now on the Rider staff.

-Don’t expect the kicking battle between incumbent Alexis Serna and Dan Giancola to heat up for at least a day or two. Both apparently have tender groins and the club doesn’t want to push them this early in camp.

Also on the mend are LB Sideeq Shabazz (ankle), DB Brady Browne (flu), OL Mike Morris (ankle), WR Kyle Smith (hamstring) and DB Darrius Battles (foot).

-Spotted among the crowd watching the morning session – people wearing tuques. Sorry to be a whiner, but camp is supposed to be about shorts, T-shirts and sunshine. And the long-range forecast for the rest of the week only looks worse.

-Ex Bomber DB Anthony Malbrough has not reported to the Edmonton Eskimos and that may affect the deal that sent him west from here. The future considerations in that deal was OL Kelly Butler and if he gets on the field here, makes the team and plays in a game, the Bombers may have to surrender a conditional draft pick.

-Stay tuned for more updates here on The Bomber Insider, featuring myself and Gary Lawless – once he returns from Hershey and the Calder Cup finals. Lawless, a former Toronto Argonauts employee (don’t hold that against him) and diehard CFL fan, will join us again this year to help cover the Bombers.

-Ed Tait
