Hey there, time traveller!

One man’s totally subjective rankings of the eight CFL teams to date this season (last week’s rank in parenthesis):

1. (1) MONTREAL ALOUETTES (11-2) — Next meaningful game is the East Final on Nov. 22.

2. (2) CALGARY STAMPEDERS (8-5) — Very sloppy win over the Ticats at home and regressing offensively.

3. (3) SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (7-6) — Just so inconsistent.

4. (6) B.C. LIONS (6-7) — Love Buck Pierce, but how long can he stay upright?

5. (5) HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (6-7) — Shoulda, coulda, woulda in Calgary last week.

6. (4) EDMONTON ESKIMOS (6-7) — Looked lost offensively against the Bombers.

7. (7) WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (5-8) — Right back in the fight. For real.

8. (8) TORONTO ARGONAUTS (3-10) — A horrible, boring team.

Juicy number

1-5

Over the last two games — one win, one loss — Roughriders QB Darian Durant has thrown just one touchdown against five interceptions.

FYI

Think the Stamps aren’t ecstatic to have DE Charleston Hughes back from the NFL? He has six sacks in three games… The organizing committee for next year’s Grey Cup in Edmonton announced this week their ticket prices will range from $98-$250. A ticket in the upper end zone for February’s Super Bowl in Miami is $1,935, a lower-bowl ticket between the 30-yard lines is $4,687 while a luxury suite goes for a paltry $140,000-$175,000… Great stat provided by the TSN crew over the weekend: For the first time in league history every CFL team could finish with a 1,000-yard rusher and the league would have eight 1K running backs. By comparison, there were just two 1,000-yard rushers last year (Calgary’s Joffrey Reynolds and Wes Cates of Saskatchewan). Interestingly, as recently as 1993 the CFL season finished without a 1,000-yard running back — the Bombers Michael Richardson led the league that year with 925 yards… Calgary edged Hamilton 15-14 last week and, in the process, became the first Stampeders team in 14 years to win a game without scoring a TD.

Say what?!

“We want to return this franchise to where it has been in the past. We want to be the best team in the league. It does not happen overnight. It’s going to take some time. It is a painful process.”

— Argos head coach Bart Andrus. Toronto is 3-10 this year and 3-18 since firing Rich Stubler last September.
