“ö Bombers punter Troy Westwood hasn’t been on a business trip with a football team for almost two seasons. Westwood made his return to the Bombers last weekend and will handle the punting duties in Montreal on Sunday.

“I’m looking forward to getting on the road, going to The Keg with the guys and playing video games with the guys. I’ve been told we need to wear a suit. I still have one but I’ll have to dust it off.”

“ö Bombers quarterback Michael Bishop took in a Moose game this week and liked what he saw. The QB brought a camera and when a fight broke out in front of him, he started snapping shots.

“That was the first hockey fight I’ve seen live. I’ve seen lots on TV but that was the first one right in front of me. I’d go again, for sure,” said Bishop, who saw his first hockey game in Boston. “There were two fights right by me. There was some good action and some good hard-core punches. I don’t know how they do that, that’s a tough game. If I played that game I wouldn’t last too long. It’s too much, too much activity for me, but I enjoyed it.”

“ö Bombers coach Mike Kelly was asked about rumours coming out of Montreal this week that the Als weren’t excited about this weekend’s game. Kelly blew the question off.

“I don’t get involved in the media. I try to stay out of the media,” said Kelly, easily the best quote in the league this season. His daily scrums are mandatory for reporters — one never knows what he’ll say.

“ö Reports out of Toronto say Argos owners David Cynamon and Howard Sokolowski are attempting to put together a bid to buy the Phoenix Coyotes. But the duo also say they want to hold onto the Argos if they can get some financial relief from the CFL.

The owners of the Argonauts say they would prefer to keep the team, but need financial considerations from the CFL.

“We’d rather not sell the team,” said Cynamon. “We think we’ve brought the… Argos brand up to a level that it hasn’t been at for many years, if ever. We think there’s another level to jump up to. We need the league’s support to do that… and if we think we can get it then we’re very happy because we’re very passionate about the league and we’re happy to stay involved.”
