— KICKING CLUB: Football is a change business and when players don’t meet certain levels of performance on the field, personnel moves will be made. That’s what happened with K Alexis Serna, Mike Renaud’s partner in crime since the start of the 2009 season.

"Alexis and I (are) very close..it’s tough," the Winnipeg punter said after practice. "It’s a tough pill to swallow, considering it’s early in the season. We’re not even halfway through, but we understand that it’s part of the business and that’s what we signed up for, and we have to expect them when we’re under-achieving or not performing to the standards that are set for us."

With K Louie Sakoda in for Serna, Renaud is no longer the only punter on the Bombers either. Not that the 27-year-old Ottawa native should worry about his position. The Concordia product is the CFL’s top leg after six weeks of action, with a 49.5-yards-per-punt average.

He knows how hard it is to kick in Winnipeg.

"It certainly can (be a tough place)," he said. "Kicking in general, I think. Once you get into a rhythm and you’re having a little success, you can take a little bit of weight off your shoulders. Until then… with the wind and the fans, it can be tough."

— OLD UNIS: The Bombers will officially unveil their retro 1970s look today in advance of Friday’s game with the Tiger-Cats at Canad Inns Stadium (7:30 p.m.). The throwbacks are a return to the royal-blue jerseys and yellow trim, with matching pants and gold helmets that feature the giant ‘W’ on the side. The club will only sport the classic look once this season.

— INJURY BUG: An update on the right knee of import LT Andre Douglas: According to head coach Paul LaPolice, the rookie lineman will be lost to the club for one or two games. He was a spectator at practice Tuesday. LaPolice confirmed that non-import OL Luke Fritz will start in place of Douglas Friday, freeing a spot on the roster for another American player. S Ian Logan (hamstring) and KR Markus Howell (hamstring) are questionable for this weekend.

— WEEKLY STARS: Toronto RB Cory Boyd, Montreal LB Chip Cox and KR Tim Maypray, and Hamilton WR Dave Stala were named the CFL players of the week for Week 6 Tuesday.
