— Don’t imagine, when the day comes, it will be easy for Paul LaPolice to sit Steven Jyles down and tell him he has to give up the starting QB chores to Buck Pierce. Jyles, after all, has been solid in relief.

"Players don’t lose their starting job to an injury," said LaPolice. "That would be the first thing I would say in that process. We communicated that in training camp and going forward: You won’t lose your job to injury unless something dramatic happens."

— Don’t read anything into reports that Arland Bruce III has not practised this week in Hamilton. "Arland will play. Period. If we wanted him to practice today, he could have," Ticat head coach Marcel Bellefeuille told The Hamilton Spectator. "He’s played this game for a long time and it’s more important to have him as close to 100 per cent as we can have him."

— Ticats have re-signed WR David Ball, who was on the Hamilton injured list last year and attended camp with the Bombers this June.

— Surely the Tabbies are distracted about the franchise’s future in Hamilton… aren’t they? "Our focus is on Winnipeg," said Bellefeuille. "It’s an important football game. I don’t think about it as a distraction.

"If we want to be the team we need to be this season, we’re going to have to be mentally tough. Whether it’s going on the road, whether it’s injuries, whether it’s things that are happening outside our football team, we have to be mentally capable of overcoming those things."

— LaPolice was mum on the release of WR Titus Ryan by the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday. Ryan, who had eight catches for 285 yards and three TDs last season for the Bombers after coming over as part of the Romby Bryant/Arjei Franklin/Odell Willis trade, broke his thumb in the Cowboys’ first pre-season game.
