Hey there, time traveller!

— The Buck Pierce situation seems to be as difficult to predict as the weather these days.
Less than 24 hours after telling reporters that he’d have to get used to the knee brace around his right knee, the 28-year-old QB was running around the Canada Inns Stadium turf with no brace in sight. Pierce had his right knee heavily taped, however, leading to speculation that he would get the call this weekend in Regina. Here’s Pierce on whether he’ll go brace-less if he gets the call Sunday: "We’ll see. There are lots of things we could do, but I think the main thing is that it is stable."
Head coach Paul LaPolice, also concerned on Tuesday about the condition of the QB’s knee and the mobility it allows, wasn’t as worried when the subject came up in the scrum Wednesday.
"He said he felt more comfortable without it on. It’s up to him," LaPolice said. "The knee is very stable, so whatever he feels more comfortable with. I know he likes (not wearing the brace) better so we’ll all follow his lead and if he doesn’t want the brace…great."
So, it appears Pierce has convinced the Bombers that he doesn’t need the brace. Question: If the right knee is as stable as everyone is saying that it is, then why did it look like it had about four rolls of tape on it?
For what it’s worth, QB Steven Jyles led the first-team offence Wednesday.
— NEW PLAYER: Don’t let the numbers fool you. That was the message from LaPolice regarding the club’s latest practice roster invite.
Import WR Greg Carr joined the team Wednesday morning and comes to Winnipeg with an impressive resumé out of Florida State.
As a junior, Carr caught 45 passes for 795 yards and four touchdowns and followed that up with 39 catches for 542 yards and four touchdowns as a senior. In his time as a Seminole, Carr caught 148 passes for 2,574 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Factor in his dimensions (6-foot-6, 214-pounds), and one has to wonder why Carr wasn’t selected in the 2009 NFL draft.
"We like this kid and we think he has ability, but you should always try to not focus (on the numbers)," said LaPolice.
The knock on Carr: His speed.
— NEW PLAN: Traditionally, the Bombers would jump on a bus and make the six-hour drive to Regina a day or two before the Labour Day Classic. Not this year.
In an effort to gain some competitive advantage, the club is flying to Regina Saturday, following the walk-through at Canad Inns Stadium.
Stars Sit Out
DB Jovon Johnson and SB Terrence Edwards both missed practice Wednesday. Johnson is being cautious with a hamstring injury, while Edwards sat out with a sore ankle. Concern for both is low.
Sick Bay
SB Brock Ralph also missed the workout because of illness, while rookie WR Cory Watson is still hobbled by an MCL injury suffered against Montreal. Ralph should be ready for the Riders; Watson won’t play in Regina.
Awesome August
Toronto RB Cory Boyd (offence) and LB Kevin Eiben (top Canadian), along with Montreal LB Chip Cox and B.C. KR Yonus Davis were named the Gibson’s Finest CFL players for the month for August.
