WILLIS VS. REYNOLDS

If there’s still such a thing as ‘bulletin board material’ then Odell

Willis provided some for the Calgary Stampeders.

Joffrey Reynolds

The Bombers defensive end, a key cog in the CFL’s top defence after

the first two weeks of the season, compared Stamps RB Joffrey Reynolds

to Toronto RB Cory Boyd Wednesday, believing Boyd was a tougher

challenge last week than Reynolds will be tonight.

“I’m not stepping on any toes; Joffrey, he’s a good back, he’s been

with a good team, but I feel like we have a better chance coming out

and stopping Joffrey than we did against Boyd,” Willis said after the

Bombers walk-through. “Boyd, he’s a southern boy, a hard-nosed runner.

Joffrey, he’s just kind of like, he hits his hole and takes what he

can get. Boyd is going to fight for yards when they aren’t there.

“Joffrey, he’s going to take what he can get. And I’m just looking

forward to coming out and banging him just as hard as we banged Cory

Boyd. If he can take it, we’ll see if he can hold up.”

The Bombers held Boyd to just 14 yards in a 22-16 win over the Argos

Friday, forcing the talented back to leave the game for a spell with a

knee injury.

Now in his eighth season, Reynolds (8,834 yards career) needs just 27

yards to catch Leo Lewis for eighth place on the CFL’s all-time

rushing list.

ROSTER UPDATE

Bombers: LB Clint Kent returns after an ankle injury, pushing DB

Jonathan Hefney back to the secondary. DE Jason Vega (knee) is out,

meaning Fernand Kashama and Kenny Mainor will rotate in his spot. WR

Greg Carr (quadriceps) is on the 46-man roster, but will probably be a

healthy scratch. Stamps: SB Ken-Yon Rambo, LB Malik Jackson and OL

Dmitri Tsoumpas return to the lineup.

NO RESPECT

It appears the Bombers are a mystery to the gambling industry.

Winnipeg is three-point underdogs for tonight’s game, but the odds of

the club winning the Grey Cup have gone up since the start of the

season. In June, betting house Bodog.com had the Bombers at a 10-1

chance to win the whole thing. Those odds have improved to 8-1 heading

into Week 3.

GAME NOTES

Over 26,000 tickets have been sold as of Wednesday afternoon… The

Stamps hold a 10-8 advantage over the Bombers at Canad Inns Stadium

since 1993…In 2010, the Bombers were 1-8 when trailing after the first

quarter. This year they’re 2-0…Since the 2008 season, Winnipeg is 16-6

when winning the turnover battle. When the Bombers have been more

charitable, the record plummets to a 1-25 mark.
