Calgary QB Henry Burris vs. the Winnipeg secondary

Burris, 36, led the league with 38 TD passes last year. He is a Hall of Famer and should eclipse the 40,000-yard passing mark at some point this season — making him just the eighth pivot to accomplish the feat.

There are only a handful of elite quarterbacks in the CFL these days.

Burris is on that short list. Why is he so effective?

“He just extends plays,” Bombers safety Ian Logan said. “When it looks like it’s going to be a sack, or it looks like it’s just going to be a

loss, he somehow finds a way to make something happen.

“He’s the key. We have to stop him from rolling out and having time to throw the football. He makes teams pay.”
